Speculation on Future Microsoft SharePoint Release Dates

In “Could SharePoint 2013 be SharePoint 2012?” the author speculates on the release time of the next version of SharePoint. It is the end of the year and time to make predictions about the popular enterprise search platform. So to what do the rumors allude?

However, the most compelling argument against the next version of SharePoint being SharePoint 2012 is this: The Office 15 client suite consistently refers to SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013, for example in Visio, where you can create workflows for either SharePoint 2010 or SharePoint 2013. In fact, in Visio, even the next version of SharePoint Designer is called “SharePoint Designer 2013.

Some handy speculation for those considering budgets and upgrades for the coming years. But with much speculation and little evidence, it could be Microsoft closed up information leaks or there’s just not enough information out there yet. We know Cloud Adoption and Social Enterprises are hot topics in terms of content, but we will have to continue speculation about the timing.

Instead of waiting for new releases and solutions, check out a third party option. Smartlogic‘s Semaphore Content Intelligence Platform plugs into your existing SharePoint system and gives you intuitive taxonomy management while adding rich value to your information.
